The Balmy Studio – Bespoke Furniture

Welcome to The Balmy Studio. We are a family-operated furniture business based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, specialising in handcrafted, made-to-order furniture.

By purchasing from our website or accepting a custom furniture quotation, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Handmade and Made-to-Order Furniture

Our furniture is individually handcrafted to order. Each piece is made with care using selected materials and finishes.

As natural timber is unique, variations in grain, colour, texture and character are to be expected. These natural variations are part of the beauty of handcrafted furniture and are not considered defects.

Colours and finishes may also appear slightly different from website photographs due to lighting and screen settings.

2. Product Specifications and Custom Orders

Customers are responsible for reviewing product dimensions, finishes, leg styles and other selected options before placing an order.

For custom furniture orders, the agreed specifications will be outlined in the quotation or written correspondence.

Any requested changes after production has commenced must be discussed with The Balmy Studio. Changes may not always be possible and may result in additional charges or delays.

3. Payment Terms

Website Orders

Orders placed directly through our website require full payment at checkout.

Custom Orders Arranged Directly

For custom furniture orders arranged by email or quotation, a 50% deposit is required to confirm the order and commence production.

The remaining 50% balance is payable when the furniture has been completed and must be paid in full before the furniture is dispatched or delivered.

All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST unless otherwise stated.

4. Production Timeframes

As our furniture is made to order, production timeframes vary depending on the design, materials and current workload.

Any estimated completion timeframe is a guide only and is not a guaranteed completion or delivery date.

We will contact customers when their furniture is nearing completion or ready for delivery.

5. Cancellations and Changes of Mind

Because our furniture is made specifically to order, we do not generally accept cancellations, returns or exchanges for change of mind.

For custom orders, deposits become non-refundable once production has commenced, except where a refund is required under Australian Consumer Law.

For website orders paid in full, cancellation requests will be considered according to the stage of production and our Refund Policy, subject to customers' rights under Australian Consumer Law.

6. Delivery and Freight

We offer complimentary delivery and assembly to eligible addresses throughout Gympie, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

Gold Coast, regional and interstate deliveries may require a personalised freight quotation.

Delivery charges and arrangements will be confirmed at checkout or through direct communication before an order is finalised.

Furniture may be transported with legs removed for safer delivery. Assembly outside our complimentary local delivery area is not included unless specifically agreed.

Customers will be contacted when their furniture is ready so that suitable delivery arrangements can be made.

7. Delivery Access and Inspection

Customers should advise us of any access restrictions that may affect delivery, including stairs, narrow doorways, difficult driveways or limited vehicle access.

Please inspect your furniture upon delivery where practical.

If damage has occurred during transport, contact The Balmy Studio as soon as possible and provide photographs of the damage and any relevant packaging.

8. Care and Maintenance

Customers should follow appropriate furniture care practices, including avoiding excessive moisture, prolonged direct sunlight, extreme heat and harsh cleaning products.

Natural timber can respond to changes in temperature and humidity over time.

9. Consumer Guarantees

Our furniture comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

Customers may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy where required by law.

Nothing in these Terms of Service or our other policies excludes, restricts or modifies your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
